The triad includes first an understanding how to serve/support teachers and learning- being a humble leader. One statement Dr. Ridder made when he explained the service portion of the triad stopped me in my tracks. He said “Teachers are leaders”. Very powerful statement, and very empowering. Second is focus, goals and planning. Using data to identify how to respond to our student’s needs in the classroom. Third, feedback and needs. Faculty and staff at the table with the principals as a team to serve our student’s needs. Consistency and a systematic approach to our process throughout our district.
This is a basic outline of what is to come. I will let you,our members, know my opinion. I have worked in Joplin Schools for 13 years. This is the first time I have heard a Superintendent speak about ONLY education. How we, the educator, have an impact on our students and our community. He spoke to how we need the support of our administrators and what our community needs to improve the outcomes of our students. These are all phrases we know in our heart, but to hear him talk about human centered design, and learning centered education it makes me excited to watch our teacher grow. With his direction, I feel we will be successful in progressing forward as a group of educators.
What do you as a Joplin teacher need to know about the upcoming school year? You should expect Dr. Ridder to come and watch your teaching style. He wants to see you teach. His goal is to see all teachers, in each building no later than October. His intention is to build us up and support us. Teacher forum, how to be a part of the group? Go through your principal. The first forum will be held at the end of September. Have a question or a comment for Dr. Ridder? Contact him. He welcomes your emails and phone calls. He prefers emails. I will post his contact info below the post.
I am ready for an excellent school year. Are you?
